PRINCETON, N.J. – Mac Carey scored a career-high six goals, including the late game-winner, to lift Santa Clara men's water polo to a come-from-behind 14-13 win over Fordham during Sunday's action in the season-opening Princeton Invitational.
The Broncos (3-1) won their final three games in the three-day, 15-team tournament.
Jake Miller-Tolt also had six goals, including the game-tying strike with 21 seconds left, for Fordham (2-4), which led by three late in the third quarter.
Ryan Werner scored three times and had three assists, and Reilley May drew three kickouts and a pair of penalty shots for the Broncos who were 7-for-8 with the man advantage and connected on all three 5-meter attempts.
Santa Clara scored four straight times, including the final two by Werner, to take a 12-11 lead with just more than 2 minutes left in the game, but Miller-Tolt answered with the equalizer on a penalty shot.
Dane Estella's goal pushed the Broncos back ahead to set up the dramatic final seconds as Carey scored the game-winner with one second remaining.
Keaton Fox went the distance in net for the Broncos, registering nine blocks.

• Carey scored a team-high 14 goals at the tournament.
