Air Force Rallies to Down Men’s Water Polo

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Campbell Harris and Luke Andres each scored five times to lead Air Force to a 18-13 come-from-behind victory over Santa Clara men's water polo on Saturday.

Reagan Pittman posted three goals and Henry Yavitt dished out four assists for the Falcons (4-10, 2-2) who were 5-for-13 with the man advantage and scored on both of their 5-meter attempts.

Mac Carey and Shane Hughes each had three goals for the Broncos (3-6, 0-2) who were 3 of 7 with the extra attacker and hit on both of their penalty shots.

Andres keyed a third-quarter outburst with three of the team's seven markers as Air Force turned a three-goal halftime deficit into a lead midway through the third period it did not relinquish.

The Falcons took control when they registered five straight goals in a 4-minute span. Andres started the spurt with goal and his goal with 2 minutes left gave Air Force a 14-11 lead.

Carey pulled the Broncos within two on a late goal in the third, but the Falcons scored the next four.

NOTES
Sam Toriggino, Patrick Kirk, Reilley May, Dane Estrella, Shane Hughes and Mac Carey have started all nine games. Sean Tehaney made his first-career start in net and registered four blocks. and Matthew Churchman started the game for an injured Keaton Fox. Churchman made his first career start, while the other six have started all eight contests.

The Broncos continue WWPA play on Wednesday when they travel to face Fresno Pacific. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
