Men's Water Polo Signs Four Players

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Ford Eldredge, Dominick Kirk, Chase Zamborelli and Nicholas Fontes will join the Santa Clara water polo program next fall.

"We're very excited about the four recruits who signed early and how the class is shaping up for next year," said head coach Keith Wilbur.

All four signees have ties to Santa Clara University.

Eldredge, whose sister Annie is a senior on the women's water polo team, is a driver from the Bishop's School in La Jolla. He was recently named first team All-California Interscholastic Federation in the San Diego section.

Kirk is the younger brother of Patrick who is a junior on the men's water polo team. Dominick Kirk is a utility player from Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, and he was recently named first team All-CIF in the Central Coast Section.

Fontes is a left-handed driver, also from Bellarmine College Prep, and he was recently named second team All-CIF in the Central Coast Section. His mother, Pandora del Carmen, works at the university.

Zamborelli is a goalkeeper from Valley Christian High School in San Jose, and he was also recently named second team All-CIF in the Central Coast Section. He has an older brother who is enrolled in Santa Clara's Leavey School of Business.

"It speaks to a lot to Santa Clara to see the family connections and that so many siblings want to come to Santa Clara after seeing the great experiences that their older siblings are having," said Wilbur.  "All of these guys are excellent players in their own right, but they also play different positions and complement each other's skill sets very well."
