Men's Water Polo Preps for Regular Season with Three Exhibition Games

STOCKTON, Calif. - Santa Clara men's water polo kicks off the regular season next week, but warmed up by playing three exhibition games at Saturday's Pacific Invitational.

The Broncos fell to the host Tigers, 13-8, in the opening game then defeated Questa College, 12-6, before cloised out the day by getting edged by San Jose State, 10-9.

Ryan Werner, Patrick Kirk and Arvin Bahia each scored twice against Pacific, but Matthew Hosmer (three) was one of four multiple goal scorers for the Tigers who started to pull away by scoring five times in the second period.

Bahia, Blake D'Souza, Adam Low, Nicky Fontes each scored twice and the Santa Clara defense allowed just three goals in the first 24 minutes against Cuesta.

Marc Weber tallied four goals, including the game-winning 5-meter strike with less than 4 minutes remaining for the Spartans. Dominick Kirk scored three times and brother, Patrick, twice against San Jose State.

Sean Tehaney and Chase Zamborelli split time in net for Santa Clara in all three games. Tehaney played each opening half and Zamborelli the final two quarters.

The Broncos open the season on Friday at the Princeton Invitational.
