Men's Water Polo Opens Season at Princeton Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's water polo opens the season at the three-day Princeton Invitational, which begins on Friday.

The Broncos, playing in the tournament for the fifth-straight season, face Johns Hopkins on Friday, George Washington and Fordham on Saturday, and Navy on Sunday.

Santa Clara returns four starters in Mac Carey, Shane Hughes, Patrick Kirk and Sean Tehaney.

Carey was first on the team in both goals (53) and assists (42), and Hughes was second in both categories with 44 goals and 41 assists. Kirk ranked fifth on the team in scoring last yaer with 26 goals.

Tehaney took over for an injured Keaton Fox in net and started the final 17 games of 2018.

Luca Pagano, Ryan Werner and Jack Rottman are returners who played in all 25 games a year ago.
