SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's water polo will play in its second of three straight tournaments to open the regular season.

The Broncos will take part in the three-day Aggie Roundup at UC Davis. They will play four games beginning Saturday.

Santa Clara opened the regular season last weekend at the Princeton Invitational. The Broncos knocked off Johns Hopkins in the season opener, but then dropped games to George Washington and Fordham, as well as the tournament finale to Navy in overtime.

"Our veterans played pretty well but our freshmen are still getting acclimated to the college game," head coach Keith Wilbur said.

Seven of the 15 players who saw action last week made their first collegiate appearance.

The Broncos will face Ottawa University - Arizona (1 p.m.) and Austin College (6 p.m.) on Saturday, and Whittier College (8 a.m.) and Cal (2:15 p.m.) on Sunday.

"Early in the season it's more about us than focusing on an opponent," Wilbur said of the 19-game tournament at Schaal Aquatics Center. "We saw some things last weekend we need to work on, which we have this week, especially our defense."

Santa Clara will play in the Gary Troyer Tournament at the University of La Verne on Oct. 4-5 before playing its first home game on Oct. 9 against Stanford.
