Men's Water Polo Senior Earns League Player of the Week

OAKLAND, Calif. - Ryan Werner of Santa Clara men's water polo earned the Western Water Polo Association Player of the Week for his standout performance at the Gary Troyer Tournament.

The senior was a key cog for the Broncos who went 4-0 at the two-day, 22-team event that was held at Pomona-Pitzer, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and the University of La Verne. He posted 13 goals and three assists, as well as drawing one kickout and a 5-meter penalty shot.

Werner matched his career high goals in the last three contests. On Friday, Werner tallied four goals to help the Broncos hold off Wagner, 13-11. The following day, he produced four goals in a 17-12 win over host La Verne and matched that total in an 18-10 victory over Occidental.
