Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament Schedule

Updated: Oct. 24, 2019

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara men's water polo team is set to play host to the annual Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament, which begins Friday.

The three-day tournament features 13 teams from both sides of the country playing a combined 25 games at Santa Clara and San José State.

There will be 16 contests at Sullivan Aquatic Center and nine at SRAC at San José State (on Saturday and Sunday).

Action starts at 1:20 p.m. Friday when California Baptist faces Harvard in Sullivan Aquatic Center.

The Broncos (8-9) play four games in the tournament, which was renamed in 2017 (formerly the Rodeo Tournament) to honor a former Santa Clara player. A two-year member of the program, Fraser passed away in February of 2017.

"Once again we have a lot of good teams joining us this year," head coach Keith Wilbur. "We always enjoy hosting this event and it's taken on even more significance in the last three years with Julian's passing. He meant a lot to our program and glad we can continue to honor him in this way."

Santa Clara's first game in the tournament is set for Satuday at 10:20 a.m. against Harvard, one of six East Coast schools in the event.

The first game at San Jose State will be on Saturday at 9 a.m. when LMU meets Bucknell. Visit the San Jose State men's water polo webpage for details on games at SRAC.

Santa Clara games will be streamed and live stats will be available. Results and box scores for all remaining games will be posted on the tournament page.

ABOUT THE JULIAN FRASER MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
The Santa Clara water polo community lost one its own in the spring of 2017 with the passing of men's player Julian Fraser. The two-year member of the program touched many around him in his short life. In recognition, the water polo program renamed the annual Rodeo Tournament as the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament, a three-day event which features teams from both sides of the country. Fraser was beloved by coaches, teammates and the Santa Clara University community. He had a true joy for the sport, he was a fierce competitor and enjoyed the camaraderie with his teammates. This annual tournament is a fitting way to honor and remember him.

TICKETS
All-day passes are available for $13 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are NO single-game tickets available. Passes allow patrons exit and entry for all contests each day at Sullivan Aquatic Center (not including games at San Jose State). They may be purchased online or at Sullivan Aquatic Center, which opens one hour prior to the first game each day. For questions, contact the Santa Clara ticket office weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at (408) 554-4660 or BroncoTickets@scu.edu.

PARKING
For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot (see below for access), located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to the start time. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive. During the weekend, campus parking facilities are free (except for permit required locations). Click here for a campus map and parking restrictions.

The construction of the Stephen C. and Patricia A. Schott Athletic Excellence Center has necessitated the closure of the main entrance (off Accolti Way) to the Leavey Center parking lot. Access is now ONLY directly from El Camino Real (Route 82). If you are traveling east on El Camino Real, the Leavey lot entrance will be approximately 150 yards on the right (enter through the black iron gate) after you pass the main campus entrance. If you are traveling west on El Camino, make a u-turn at the main campus entrance at Palm Drive/Railroad Ave and follow the same directions.
