Men’s Water Polo Closes Home Schedule, Conference Play This Weekend

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's water polo closes out Western Water Polo Association play this weekend.

The Broncos (11-11, 0-5) will face Fresno Pacific on Saturday and Air Force on Sunday. Both games begin at noon in Sullivan Aquatic Center.

After playing just once in a 12-day span, Santa Clara closes the regular season with three games in five days. The Broncos end the regular season on Wednesday with a home matchup against San Jose State.

Prior to the Air Force contest, the team will recognize its senior class which includes Mac Carey, Keaton Fox, Shane Hughes, Patrick Kirk, Nate Miller, Luca Pagano and Ryan Werner.

Santa Clara has won three of its last four outings. Fresno Pacific (6-19, 0-5) has not played since posting a 1-3 mark at last month's Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament. Air Force (9-15, 0-5) has dropped five in a row, though the last two in overtime to Concordia and Army.

NOTES
Ryan Werner, Patrick Kirk, Shane Hughes and Mac Carey have started all 22 games. Jack Rottman has started the last 14 games. Sean Tehaney has started 13 games in goal and Chase Zamborelli the other nine.
• Hughes is the team's leading scorer with 45 goals. He has scored in all but one game this season. Carey is second with 40 and Werner third with 33. Patrick Kirk is fourth with 30 goals and a has a seven-game scoring streak.
• Carey has a team-high 51 assists. He posted a career-high seven against Ottawa Univ.- Arizona on Sept. 21. Hughes is second with 46. Carey has an assist in all but one game this season.
• Bahia ranks first on the team with 30 kickouts drawn. Carey is second with 28.

PARKING
For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot (see below for access), located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to the start time. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive. The construction of the Stephen C. and Patricia A. Schott Athletic Excellence Center has necessitated the closure of the main entrance (off Accolti Way) to the Leavey Center parking lot. Access is now ONLY directly from El Camino Real (Route 82). If you are traveling east on El Camino Real, the Leavey lot entrance will be approximately 150 yards on the right (enter through the black iron gate) after you pass the main campus entrance. If you are traveling west on El Camino, make a u-turn at the main campus entrance at Palm Drive/Railroad Ave and follow the same directions.
