Four Starters Named to WCC's WBB All-Academic Team

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Seniors Annie Garrison and Kim Sorenson, and juniors Becki Ashbaugh and Caroline Gruening were named to the West Coast Conference's All-Academic first team, the league announced today. It marks the second straight year of such honors for Garrison and Ashbaugh.

The quartet has led Santa Clara to a 20-7 overall mark and a share of the WCC regular season title, after going 11-3 in conference play.

Garrison, a forward from Saratoga, is carrying a 3.75 GPA into the spring quarter, while dual majoring in mathematics and computer science. She also recently received CoSIDA District VIII All-Academic recognition and has earned a nomination on the national ballot, to be announced March 15. Ashbaugh, a guard from Bellevue, Wash., currently has a 3.64 GPA in operation management and information systems.

First-time honorees Gruening and Sorenson are both guards and carry a 3.77 GPA in combined sciences and a 3.40 GPA in marketing, respectfully. Gruening hails from Juneau, Alaska, while Sorenson is a Redmond, Wash., native.

The Broncos are idle for the next nine days as they wait for the NCAA's announcement of this year's Tournament on Sunday, March 11. The selection show will begin at 2:30 p.m.
