SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Commissioner Michael Gilleran announced that the West Coast Conference, in conjunction with Fox Sports Net, will televise 10 regular-season WCC men's and women's basketball games during the 2001-2002 season. The Fox Sports TV schedule combined with the conference's ESPN and syndicated television packages completes the WCC's largest TV package in league history.
The West Coast Conference, now entering its 50th year of competition, will be featured in all five of its markets as games will appear on a combination of Fox Sports Northwest, Fox Sports Bay Area, Fox Sports West and Fox Sports West2.
The first women's basketball telecast takes place February 2, 2002 in Los Angeles as Pepperdine travels down the coast to Loyola Marymount. The game is the first of a doubleheader on Fox Sports West2, with the Pepperdine and LMU men's basketball teams taking the floor in game two.
The second game featured on the women's schedule features 2000-01 WCC Co-Champions, Saint Mary's and Santa Clara, going head-to-head on February 9, 2002 on Fox Sports Bay Area.
The Broncos will also appear live on KRON - Channel 4 during its 2 p.m. meeting with Stanford on December 2.
The WCC will kick-off its men's basketball telecasts with Fox Sports Net on January 11, 2002 as the Santa Clara Broncos visit the Gonzaga Bulldogs in a rematch of the 2001 Men's Basketball Tournament final. The Broncos were the only conference team to down the Zags last season, but have not beaten the Bulldogs in Spokane since 1996.
