Feb. 9, 2007

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University women's basketball player Ashley Graham was recognized for her outstanding performance both on the court and in the classroom Thursday, being named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VIII Third Team. Graham is currently in the midst of a career year, averaging 10.9 points and 4.96 assists per game while in carrying a cumulative grade-point average of 3.63 as she works towards a psychology major in the classroom.

Graham's steady play as the starting point guard has been a major factor in making the Broncos the top offensive team in the West Coast Conference. Paced by her 4.96 assists a game, which is third in the WCC, SCU leads the conference with 71.1 points a game and also with 15.96 team assists per game.

The Redmond, Wash. native has also carved out a place for herself as one of the top three-point shooters in Santa Clara history. Graham's career three-point shooting percentage of 42.9% stands second on the all-time list, just behind Melissa (King) Fisher's 44.3%. Her 195 three-pointers made are second only behind Quinn Thomas' career mark of 226, and Graham's 351 assists currently rank sixth all-time. Additionally, Graham has played in 111 career games, and with six regular-season contests and at least one tournament game remaining this season, should she play in all seven of those games, she will tie Becki Ashbaugh (1998-2002) for first all-time in games played with 118.

She is also a two-time WCC All-Academic team selection, and member of the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

With the Broncos currently 12-11, and 4-4 in the WCC, Graham will lead the Broncos into a crucial weekend of play against the Portland Pilots and first-place Gonzaga Bulldogs on the road to the WCC Tournament from March 1-4 in Portland, Ore.
