SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's basketball team will help millions of Americans fight breast cancer this month as they participate in the annual American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

"Participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is a special even for our basketball team and we are proud to be a part of such a wonderful cause," said head coach Michelle Bento-Jackson. "We are honoring our loves ones and helping to fund for those that are in need. We feel fortunate that we get to opportunity to be involved."

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is an opportunity for the Broncos to honor breast cancer survivors, educate women about prevention and early detection, and raise funds and awareness for various research and support programs. Since 1993, 3.5 million walkers across the country have raised more than $230 million through Making Strides events.

The Broncos' fundraising goal for the walk is $2500, and fans and community members can sign up join the Broncos in the event, or simply pledge a donation to the American Cancer Society by visiting the link provided at the top of the page.
