SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara
University women's basketball head coach Jennifer Mountain announced that Amanda Brown has been named the team's Director of
Basketball Operations.
Brown spent the 2009-10 season in a similar position at Gonzaga
University, which followed a three-year playing career with the
Zags.
As the Director of Women's Basketball Operations at GU, Brown
achieved her NCAA Recruiting Certification and contributed in the
program's recruiting efforts while other staff members were on
leave. In 2009 she participated in the Women's Basketball Coaches
Association (WBCA) 'So You Want to be a Coach' program.
"I am extremely excited for Amanda to be joining our staff," said
Mountain. "She is passionate about the game and very eager to
learn. She will be a great fit with our program, university
and community."
As college player, Brown captained the Gonzaga team as a senior
and helped the Bulldogs make three consecutive postseason
tournament appearances from 2006-2009.
An excellent undergraduate student, Brown was recognized on the
Gonzaga University President's List four times. She was part of
GU's peer mentoring program and the Gonzaga Athletes Mentoring for
Excellence (G.A.M.E) initiative. She was also an active member of
the Spokane community, volunteering at the Horizon Hospice and the
Union Gospel Mission.
Brown gained additional professional experience working as an
administrator at the Warehouse Athletic Facility in Spokane and as
a research assistant in Gonzaga's School of Professional Studies.
A native of Sacramento, Brown graduated from Gonzaga with an
English degree in May of 2009. She is currently pursuing an M.A. in
Organizational Leadership.
