Amanda Brown Named Santa Clara’s Director of Women’s Basketball Operations

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara University women's basketball head coach Jennifer Mountain announced that Amanda Brown has been named the team's Director of Basketball Operations.

Brown spent the 2009-10 season in a similar position at Gonzaga University, which followed a three-year playing career with the Zags.

As the Director of Women's Basketball Operations at GU, Brown achieved her NCAA Recruiting Certification and contributed in the program's recruiting efforts while other staff members were on leave. In 2009 she participated in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 'So You Want to be a Coach' program.

"I am extremely excited for Amanda to be joining our staff," said Mountain.  "She is passionate about the game and very eager to learn.  She will be a great fit with our program, university and community."

As college player, Brown captained the Gonzaga team as a senior and helped the Bulldogs make three consecutive postseason tournament appearances from 2006-2009.

An excellent undergraduate student, Brown was recognized on the Gonzaga University President's List four times. She was part of GU's peer mentoring program and the Gonzaga Athletes Mentoring for Excellence (G.A.M.E) initiative. She was also an active member of the Spokane community, volunteering at the Horizon Hospice and the Union Gospel Mission.

Brown gained additional professional experience working as an administrator at the Warehouse Athletic Facility in Spokane and as a research assistant in Gonzaga's School of Professional Studies.

A native of Sacramento, Brown graduated from Gonzaga with an English degree in May of 2009. She is currently pursuing an M.A. in Organizational Leadership.
