Help People in Need! Donate Non-Perishable Food at Upcoming SCU Basketball Games

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara University, and its women's basketball program, has teamed up with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties to help distribute food to people in need this winter season.

Your donations will be accepted at upcoming women's basketball games at the main spectator entrances of Santa Clara University's Leavey Center, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara Campus.

The Broncos will be hosting Southern Utah on Friday, November 18 and Long Beach State Monday, November 21. Both games will start at 7 p.m. PT.

Bring nutritious, non-perishable foods to upcoming games such as:
* Meals in a can (stew, chili, soup)
* Tuna and canned meat
* Peanut butter
* Canned foods with pop-top lids
* Low-sugar cereals
* 100 percent fruit juices in single serving boxes
* Canned fruit packed in juice or canned vegetables

Second Harvest Food Bank is the primary source of donated, surplus, and purchased food for non-profit agencies in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. In fiscal year 2011 (July 2010 - June 2011), they distributed 45 million pounds of nutritious food to low-income people in need in every zip code of their service area from Daly City to Gilroy, and from the ocean to the bay.
