Alyssa Shoji Comments on an 'Amazing Experience' at State Farm 3-Point Contest

NEW ORLEANS – Santa Clara University's Alyssa Shoji was one of eight participants in the State Farm Women's 3-Point Contest at Tulane's Fogelman Arena, an event televised live on ESPN tonight. The 2012 State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships is a signature event that precludes the Final Four in New Orleans.

"It was an amazing experience," said Shoji. "I feel so fortunate to have competed in such an awesome event. The atmosphere was incredible and although the outcome wasn't what I had hoped for, I am so thankful for all the support I received and grateful for the experience. This is something I will never forget."

Shoji tallied 10 points in her first and only round, making at least one ball from each of the five spots, but did not advance into the finals. USC's Ashley Corral ultimately won the women's competition. Northwestern's John Shurna, the men's champion, took home the overall title by beating Corral in the Pure Protein Battle of the Champions competition.

ESPN broadcasted the event live and it will re-air numerous times on ESPN networks. Brad Nessler, Dan Dakich, Jimmy Dykes and Shannon Spake commentated in front of a packed house on Tulane's campus.
