Santa Clara Women's Basketball Announces Four Signees for 2014 Class

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With five freshmen expected to play a big role in 2013-14, Santa Clara women's basketball head coach Jennifer Mountain announced her recruiting class for the 2014-15 season. Four players from four states will be joining the Broncos next year after signing NLI's.

"I'm really excited about adding these four players," said Mountain. "With the pieces that we have in place, these players add another dimension that gets us better as a program. They're a great fit for the school and the program. On the floor they are competitive and want to win. The mindset and the culture have changed over the last couple years and they will be a great addition to that."

Berry has been on the varsity team at Saint Mary's High School since her sophomore year. Through her junior year she averaged 8.0 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, 1.6 steals per game and 1.2 assists per game.

"Taylor is an athlete," said Mountain. "She is very driven both academically and athletically. She is going to come in and provide some automatic athleticism in the guard spot and someone that can be very good defensively down the road."

A four-year varsity player, McGwire had played 80 games in her high school career through 2012-13 season and has averaged 9.2 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 3.3 blocks per game, 1.4 spg and 1.3 apg. According to Max Preps, McGwire is the top recruit in the state of Nevada.

"Morgan has a great athlete's body," said Mountain. "She's got a little ways to go in skill set but she has great genes. She has a big body and works really hard. She's a player that has tremendous upside."

Rielly has been on the varsity team since her freshman year. Through her junior season she averaged 17.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.2 apg and 2.1 spg in 59 games. As a junior Rielly averaged 23.5 ppg, 4.1 rpg and 2.9 spg while winning the league championship. Her team made the state playoffs for the first time since 1996.

"Sidney [Rielly] is one of the most versatile kids we have coming in," said Mountain. "She can play a number of the guard spots and is playing point right now in high school. Being a lefty adds a different dimension we haven't had. She can really shoot the ball and is a fierce competitor that wants to win."

The 10th best recruit in Arizona according to Max Preps, Wolph has also been on the varsity roster since her freshman year. Through her junior year she averaged 12.7 ppg, 2.6 apg, 2.5 rpg and 2.4 spg. As a junior Wolph averaged 14.5 ppg, 2.3 spg, 1.9 apg and 1.7 rpg while going over the 1,000-point mark for her career.

"Emily [Wolph] is a natural point guard that is going to come in and work her tail off," said Mountain. "She has great leadership skills and sees the floor really well. She is a fiery bundle that is constantly going. She's another great fit for our program that will push us to get better every single day."
