Catching Up with Sophomore Katherine Hawkins Off the Court

With one year under her belt, Katherine Hawkins has learned a lot about being tough on the basketball court. Now a sophomore, Hawkins is playing hard for her team to lead them to success. Santa Clara Broncos got the chance to ask her how she is feeling half-way through the season and all the reasons she loves being a Bronco.

SCB: As a sophomore, what do you hope to teach the new freshmen this year?

KH: I want to show them how to be mentally tough and leadership.

SCB: Do you have any personal goals for the season?

KH: My personal goals for the season are doing everything I can to help my team be successful, both on the court and in the classroom.

SCB: What was one of the best things you learned on the court during your freshman year?

KH: One of the best things I learned on the court during freshman was mental toughness. Also learning how to adjust to college basketball. It's a much faster paced game than high school and club basketball.

SCB: Why did you choose to become a Santa Clara Bronco?

KH: I chose to become a Santa Clara Bronco for many reasons. On my official visit I fit in with the team and coaches perfectly and knew I right away this is where I belonged. Academics and location of SCU, and weather are other reasons why I chose to become a Bronco.
