Santa Clara University Athletic Director Dan Coonan announced Monday that the contract of head women's basketball coach Jennifer Mountain will not be renewed. Mountain finished her sixth season at Santa Clara with a 10-20 record, including 6-12 in the West Coast Conference.
A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
"First, I want to thank Jennifer for the job she did here at Santa Clara. Her team was always one of our department leaders in community service and they also excelled in the classroom," said Coonan. "I believe this is the right time for a fresh start for the program and wish Jennifer the best of luck."
"I want to thank Santa Clara for the opportunity that I have had to serve as their head coach," said Mountain. "I have learned a great deal over the past six years and found some great friends and fellow coaches at this University. Santa Clara is a great University and it has been a privilege to be a part of this up and coming program."
