Women's Basketball Hires Alex Earl as Assistant CoachAugust 12, 2015Santa Clara women’s basketball announced the hiring of assistant coach Alex Earl today. Earl spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Eastern Washington. Earl graduated from Arizona State with a bachelor's degree in communications in May of 2013.

Nici Gilday Signs Professional Contract with Romanian TeamJuly 30, 2015Former Santa Clara women's basketball star Nici Gilday has signed a contract with a Romanian professional team CSU Alba Iulia. Gilday reports at the end of August to being her pro career.

Meet the Future of Santa Clara Women's Basketball: Kyla MartinJune 05, 2015Santa Clara women's basketball has added Kyla Martin of Chino, Calif. to the 2015-16 recruiting class. Martin attended Etiwanda High School and East Los Angeles College last year. She plans to study Business Management at Santa Clara.

Maddison Allen Selected to Australian Squad for World University GamesMay 26, 2015Santa Clara junior women’s basketball player Maddison Allen has been selected as part of the squad for Australia in the upcoming World University Games. If Allen is selected for the team she will travel to play in South Korea from June 3-14. The Australian women won gold in 2007 and bronze in 2005, 2009, 2011, and 2013.

Come Out for Santa Clara Women's Basketball Summer CampsMay 14, 2015Santa Clara women’s basketball will hold their annual summer camps on the Mission campus in June. There will be three camps: Day Camp June 22-24, Elite Camp on June 25, and Team Camp June 26-28.

Women's Basketball Finishes First Year Under New Coaching StaffApril 09, 2015Santa Clara women’s basketball ushered in a new era during the 2014-15 season with the arrival of new head coach JR Payne and her staff. Payne, a former assistant at Santa Clara, saw the Broncos win 11 games, including an upset over LSU on Nov. 25 in the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mex. Seven of the Broncos loses during the season were by six points or fewer. Santa Clara ended up playing four teams that made the NCAA Tournament and two teams that made the Sweet 16.

Gilday Named One of Top-10 Most Efficient Shooters in DI Women's BasketballMarch 12, 2015Santa Clara women’s basketball First Team All-WCC senior guard Nici Gilday has been named one of the top-10 most efficient shooters in DI women’s basketball by Bennett Rank. Gilday ranks No. 6on the list with a 36.1% mark from downtown and a 94.5% mark from the charity stripe that leads the country by two percentage points.

Gilday Named First Team All-WCCMarch 03, 2015Santa Clara women’s basketball senior guard Nici Gilday was named First Team All-WCC on Tuesday by the league’s head coaches. She was MVP of the Air Force Classic and also named to the All-Tournament Team. She was named WCC Player of the Week on Dec. 8. Last season Gilday was All-WCC Honorable Mention.

The seventh-seeded Broncos will face the 10th-seeded Portland Pilots on Thurs., March 5 at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on BYUtv and TheW.tv. Spencer Linton and Kristen Kozlowski will have the call from the Orleans Arena. The winner will take on No. 2 seed San Diego Friday at 2 p.m. Last week Santa Clara lost at Pacific and Saint Mary’s. Regular Season Comes to an End for Women's BasketballFebruary 25, 2015Heading into the final week of regular season play, Santa Clara women’s basketball hits the road for games at Pacific and Saint Mary’s. The Broncos play the Tigers Thurs., Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. and the Gaels Sat., Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. Last week the Broncos topped Pepperdine but fell on Senior Day to LMU. Santa Clara is 10-15 on the season and 5-11 in conference play. They sit one game out of sixth place, which would give them a bye in the first round of the WCC Tournament.
