Lori Parkinson Transfers to Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball will welcome transfer Lori Parkinson to the Mission campus for the 2014-15 season. Parkinson, a rising junior, played at Southern Utah the past two years under new Santa Clara head coach JR Payne. She attended Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah where she was a candidate for the Gatorade State Girls Basketball Player of the Year Award as a senior.

"I decided to come to Santa Clara to be a part of the winning and supportive culture of the school and community," said Parkinson.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to have Lori join our program here at Santa Clara," said Payne. "Lori embodies everything that is great about college athletics. She understands the amount of work that it takes to be successful and will be a huge part of the future of Santa Clara women's basketball."

As a sophomore Parkinson played in all 33 games for the Thunderbirds and started 32 contests. She led the team in minutes played and was second on the team with 11.6 points per game. She shot 50.6% (158-312) from the field and led the team in rebounding with 7.3 per game.

As a freshman Parkinson appeared in 30 games and made two starts. She ranked fourth on the team with an average of 5.2 rpg and tied for second while shooting 47.2% (58-123) with 4.7 ppg.
