Women's Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule

Women's Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's basketball will open its 2014-15 season, the first under new head coach JR Payne, with a pair of exhibition games. The first game will be Nov. 1 vs. Notre Dame De Namur at 6 p.m. with the second being Nov. 6 vs. Dominican at 6 p.m.

"We are excited about our non-conference schedule and the opportunity to play some of the top programs in the country," said Payne. "One of the highlights of our preseason will be the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta over Thanksgiving. Playing the likes of LSU, Kansas State and UTEP will certainly prepare us for WCC play. Also playing against two Pac 12 teams in Stanford and Oregon will be a great experience for our team as those are two of the most exciting women's basketball venues in the west."

The regular season kicks-off Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. at UC Riverside. Two days later the Broncos return home for their first regular season home game vs. San Francisco State. The only other non-conference home game will be Dec. 2 vs. Cal Poly at 6 p.m.

Santa Clara will play in two tournaments, the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mex. from Nov. 25-27 and will face LSU, Kansas State, and UTEP. The Broncos also play at the Air Force Tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo. Dec. 5-6.

They will finish up the non-conference schedule with a pair of tough Pac-12 opponents on the road. On Dec. 14 the Broncos play at Stanford and on Dec. 18 they play at Oregon.

West Coast Conference play will begin Dec. 27 at home vs. Saint Mary's.
