Freshman Emily Wolph Looks Forward to Basketball Season Ahead

Santa Clara, Calif. – Arizona native and women's basketball freshman Emily Wolph (EW) sat down with Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) to talk about her transition to college and the upcoming season.

Meredith Ray '18

SCB: How has the transition been from Phoenix to Santa Clara?

EW: The first few weeks were slightly bumpy only because you have to adjust yourself to the new routine but now it feels like my second home!

SCB: How have practices been and what have they been like?

EW: Practice has been INTENSE and full of learning experiences. There hasn't been one day when I wasn't dripping in sweat.

SCB: What has been your favorite part of SCU so far?

EW: I'd have to say the beautiful weather. It's so nice to be able to leave your window open all the time especially being from Arizona!

SCB: Is it hard to balance schoolwork and practice?

EW: At first, the balance was difficult, yes. But once you get used to everything and your schedule, it starts getting easier!

SCB: Your mother played basketball in college. Did she affect your decision to play collegiate basketball?

EW: Yes! My mom was a college athlete and has been an amazing influence in not only my basketball career but in my life as well. She's taught me since I was four years old and definitely played a role in my decision to play here at Santa Clara.

SCB: What are you looking forward to most in this upcoming season?

EW: Traveling to Mexico for our Thanksgiving tournament, spending time with the team, and playing against my old teammates!
