SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After two weeks on the road, Santa Clara women's basketball returns to Leavey to take on San Diego on Thurs., Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. and BYU Sat., Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. Last week the Broncos feel at LMU before bouncing back with a 65-54 win at Pepperdine. They are now 7-11 overall and 2-7 in the WCC.

Santa Clara is being outscored by an average of 68.7-66.3 but outrebounding teams 43.0-37.5. The Broncos are shooting 38.8% (438-1130) from the field, 28.7% (76-265) from three, and 70.3% (242-344) from the free throw line.

Nici Gilday leads Santa Clara in scoring with 18.8 ppg. She is shooting 41.0% (120-293) from the field and 36.6% (41-112) from three. She adds 2.9 rpg and 1.6 spg. Marie Bertholdt is tops on the team with 7.4 rpg while adding 9.4 ppg. She leads the team in free throws made (60) and attempted (75). Raquel Avila leads the Broncos with 3.4 apg while chipping in 4.4 ppg and 2.3 rpg. Maddison Allen leads the team with 1.5 bpg and scored 4.3 ppg to go with 3.9 rpg. Emily Wolph scores 6.3 ppg and is second with 3.3 apg.

Santa Clara is 32-34 all-time vs. San Diego with the first meeting coming in 1998-99. The Broncos are 19-12 at Leavey vs. the Toreros. Earlier this season Santa Clara fell in San Diego.

San Diego is 15-4 on the season and 6-3 in conference play. They are 7-2 on the road and have not lost two consecutive games this season. Last week they fell at BYU 54-50.

The Toreros are outscoring teams 67.2-58.0 and outrebounding them 43.7-35.1. They are shooting 39.5% (469-1187) from the field, 31.3% (83-265) from three, and 69.6% (256-368) from the free throw line.

Malina Hood leads the team with 15.0 ppg and 52 threes made. She adds 2.8 rpg and 1.8 spg. Sophia Ederaine leads the team with 9.8 rpg and is second with 12.5 ppg. She is shooting a team-best 47.4% (91-192) from the field. She is tops in the conference with 4.2 bpg. Maya Hood is scoring 11.7 ppg with a team-high 1.8 spg. She adds 7.3 rpg and 1.8 apg. Cori Woodward leads San Diego with 2,5 apg and scores 5.7 ppg.

Santa Clara is 1-9 all-time vs. BYU with the first meeting coming in 1984-85. The Broncos are 1-4 at Leavey vs. the Cougars. Earlier this season Santa Clara fell in Provo.

BYU is 15-5 on the season and 7-2 in conference play. They are 6-2 on the road and have one seven of their last eight. Last week they topped San Diego on the road 54-50.

The Cougars are outscoring teams 68.7-63.3 and outrebounding teams 37.8-37.5. They are shooting 42.9% (488-1138) from the field, 36.7% (132-360) from three, and 69.4% (265-382) from the free throw line.

Lexi Eaton leads the team with 19.7 ppg with a team-high 48 threes made. She adds 5.9 rpg, 2.9 apg, and 1.0 spg. Not far behind is Morgan Bailey with 18.4 ppg on 51.0% (155-304) shooting. Bailey leads the team with 10.8 rpg and adds 2.5 apg. Kylie Maeda leads the Cougars with 4.5 apg while scoring 5.8 ppg. Makenzi Morrison scores 8.7 ppg while leading the team with 1.4 spg.
