SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball will take on Portland in the opening round of the West Coast Conference Tournament Thurs., March 5 at 2 p.m. at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Santa Clara is the No. 7 seed with a 5-13 record in conference play while Portland finished 10th in the league at 2-16. The game will be live on BYUtv and TheW.tv. The winner moves on to face second-seeded San Diego at 2 p.m. on Fri., March 6.
Santa Clara topped Portland 83-68 on Jan. 8 at the Leavey Center and went on the road for a 64-55 win in Portland. Nici Gilday scored 30 points in the first meeting on 8-16 shooting from three and followed it up with 23 at the Chiles Center.
