Women's Basketball Returns Home To Face UC Santa Cruz Sunday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After spending four weeks on the road, Santa Clara women's basketball returns to Leavey to host UC Santa Cruz Sunday at 2 p.m.

Santa Clara had a week off after topping UC Santa Barbara 69-58 on the road on Wed., Nov. 30.

Santa Clara is 2-0 all-time vs. UC Santa Cruz with the first meeting coming during the 1965-66 season. The two teams haven't played since 1973-74.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (3-3) is shooting 39.0 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Broncos lead the WCC with a 76.6 percent mark from the charity stripe.

Emily Wolph leads the team in points per game (13.2), assists per game (4.5), and 3-pointers made (14). She is also second in the conference in free throw shooting at 90.5 percent.

Lori Parkinson leads Santa Clara with 8.5 rebounds per game and is adding 8.8 ppg. She is adding 1.5 steals per game and has five blocks.

Morgan McGwire leads the WCC with a 92.9 percent mark from the free throw line. She scores 12.7 ppg to go with 6.5 rpg and a team-high 1.3 bpg.

Marie Bertholdt has a pair of double-doubles this season and is averaging 13.0 ppg to go with 7.3 rpg.

THE BANANA SLUGS
After dropping its first three games of the season, UC Santa Cruz (3-4) has come back with wins in three of its last four games.

The Banana Slugs are shooting 36.9 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from 3-point land. They are being outrebounded 39.3-36.3 and committing 15.8 turnovers per game.

Katie Young leads the team with 10.3 ppg and 11 3-pointers made while also pacing the team with 2.3 apg.

Jenna Sparks is tops on the roster with 5.4 rpg and is shooting a team-best 62.5 percent from the floor. She adds 8.4 ppg to go with six blocks.

Jasmin Dimson and Kim Tom are both scoring 8.6 ppg. Dimson leads the team with 1.8 spg and Tom is chipping in 1.8 apg.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
