Nonconference Home Action Wraps Up for Women's Basketball Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball closes out its nonconference home schedule against Northwestern on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the first of four games in five days for the Broncos.

Santa Clara has never faced Northwestern.

On Sunday, the Broncos rolled past UC Santa Cruz 85-39 in their first game at home since the season-opener.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (4-3) has won its last two games and three of its past four. Each of the last two victories have come by double-figures and a pair of tight wins to start the season.

The Broncos are shooting 40.9 percent from the field and 32.2 percent from beyond the arc. They have a plus-8.3 edge on the glass and are second in the conference with 41.9 rebounds per game.

Marie Berthold leads the team in scoring with 13.7 points per game on 45.9 percent shooting. She also leads the team in free throws made (34) and attempted (44) and is second with 7.0 rpg. Bertholdt is adding 2.4 assists per game, 1.6 blocks per game, and 1.4 steals per game.

Lori Parkinson grabs a team-best 8.7 rpg and is scoring 9.1 ppg. Emily Wolph's 4.8 apg is fourth in the WCC and she has hit a team-high 14 3-pointers while scoring 12.4 ppg. She also leads the WCC in free throw percentage at 92.0. Morgan McGwire scores 12.3 ppg to go with 6.3 rpg while Taylor Berry is scoring 9.9 ppg and grabbing 5.4 rpg.


THE WILDCATS
Northwestern (9-1) is on a six-game winning streak, including an upset of No. 16 Florida on Nov. 25. The only loss of the year came at DePaul.

The Wildcats are allowing just 58.7 ppg while scoring 73.0. They shoot 44.9 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from beyond the arc while allowing marks of 34.6 and 27.1.

Nia Coffey leads the team with 21.1 ppg and is second with a 50.4 percent mark from the floor. Coffey is also in the top-10 nationally with 11.5 rpg and is adding, 3.8 apg, 2.0 bpg, and 1.5 spg.

Ashley Dary leads the Wildcats with 6.3 apg and is third in scoring with 11.0 ppg. Lydia Rohde is the only player that has hit more than seven 3-pointers, with 19 on the season. She is shooting 44.2 percent from beyond the arc.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
