Parkinson Named West Coast Conference Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball senior forward Lori Parkinson was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

Parkinson led the Broncos to a pair of wins and a share of the top spot in the WCC standings last week. On Thursday Santa Clara went on the road to beat Portland 56-44 before returning to Leavey and coming away with a 71-64 victory over LMU.

She averaged 13.5 points per game to go with 9.0 rebounds per game, 5.0 steals per game, 5.0 assists per game, and 1.5 blocks per game all while shooting 92.9 percent from the free throw line.


In a tough battle against LMU, Parkinson had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, her third of the season. She was 13-14 of the charity stripe and added seven assists and five steals while blocking a shot.

At Portland Parkinson scored eight points to go with six rebounds and collected five steals, three assists, and two blocks.

The Broncos close out a three-game homestand this week with a game Thursday at 7 p.m. vs. San Diego and one Saturday at 2 p.m. vs. Pepperdine.
