Women's Basketball Goes for Season Sweep of LMU

SANTA CLARA, Calif.
– Looking for a season sweep, Santa Clara women's basketball returns to the floor Saturday at 2 p.m. at LMU in the second game of a four-game road swing.

Santa Clara is 47-23 all-time against LMU with the first meeting coming during the 1984-85 season. Earlier this season, the Broncos beat the Lions 71-64 in Leavey. It was their third win in a row in the series.

On Thursday, the Broncos fell at Gonzaga 51-39 in a game that saw the two teams combine to shoot under 30 percent from the field.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (9-9, 4-3 WCC) is scoring 62.8 points per game this season while shooting 39.3 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from beyond the arc. The Broncos have a plus-3.4 rebound differential and are forcing 16.9 turnovers per game.

Emily Wolph leads the team in scoring (12.4 ppg) and assists (4.1 pg) while pacing the WCC in 3-pointers made (51). Lori Parkinson is third in the conference with 2.1 steals per game and fifth with 7.9 rpg. She is second on Santa Clara with 12.4 ppg. Morgan McGwire's 1.3 blocks per game are tied for third in the league. She is third on the Broncos in scoring with 11.3 ppg and second with 7.8 rpg.

Marie Bertholdt is scoring 10.1 ppg and grabbing 5.3 rpg. She has gotten to the free throw line a team-high 64 times. Taylor Berry scores 7.6 ppg to go with 4.2 rpg.

THE LIONS
LMU (7-11, 2-5 WCC) has lost seven of its last nine after a three-game winning streak in December. The Lions only wins during that period have come against Portland and Pepperdine at home.

They are being outscored 68.2-.64.0 and outrebounded 39.9-37.4. LMU is shooting 38.8 percent from the field and 29.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Jackie Johnson is third in the WCC with 16.3 ppg and second with 9.4 rpg. She also leads the conference with 2.5 bpg and leads the Lions with a 48.6 percent mark from the floor and 1.8 spg.

Cheyanne Wallace is second on the roster in scoring (13.1 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 pg). She has gone to the free throw line a team-high 95 times. Leslie Lopez-Wood scores 11.7 ppg and has knocked down a team-best 34 3-pointers. Andee Velasco is second in the league with 5.3 apg is scoring 6.2 ppg.
