Women's Basketball Hosts Saint Mary's for Senior Day

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Getting set for the final game of the regular season, Santa Clara women's basketball hosts Saint Mary's Saturday at 2 p.m. It will be Senior Day for Marie Bertholdt, Lori Parkinson, and Beth Carlson.

On Thursday, the Broncos went to Stockton and beat Pacific 61-51 to take sole possession of fifth in the West Coast Conference standings.

Santa Clara is 35-36 all-time vs. Saint Mary's and 15-19 in Leavey. The first meeting came in 1978-79. Earlier this season the Gaels escaped Moraga with a 55-53 victory.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (14-14, 9-8 WCC) has won four of five and five of seven. All five victories have come by double-digits with the two losses by a combined three points to two of the top teams in the conference.

The Broncos are scoring 62.4 points per game while shooting 38.9 percent from the floor and 30.4 percent from beyond the arc. They have a plus-2.3 rebound differential and are forcing 17.5 turnovers per game.

Emily Wolph leads the team with 12.8 ppg and 3.8 assists per game. She leads the conference with 69 3-pointers made and is third with an 84.2 percent mark from the free throw line. Lori Parkinson leads Santa Clara and is fifth in the conference with 1.9 steals per game. She is second on the Broncos with 12.2 ppg and 7.6 rpg.

Morgan McGwire is fifth in the WCC with 8.0 rpg and fourth with 1.3 blocks per game. She is scoring 10.6 ppg. Marie Bertholdt scores 11.2 ppg and adds 5.5 rpg.

THE GAELS
Saint Mary's (17-11, 12-5 WCC) as won two in a row after dropping two in a row. From Jan. 19-Feb. 9 the Gales won seven in a row.

They are scoring 71.2 ppg, second in the WCC, while shooting a conference-high 44.0 percent from the field and 32.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Gaels have a league-best plus-10.2 rebound differential and are forcing 15.0 tpg.

Stella Beck leads Saint Mary's with 14.1 ppg and 3.2 apg and leads the conference with a 55.7 percent mark from the field. She also adds 5.5 rpg and 3.2 apg. Megan McKay is fourth in the league with 8.0 rpg and is second on the team with 10.7 ppg. Carly Turner leads the Gaels with 48 3-pointers made and is third with 10.4 ppg while grabbing 5.3 rpg.

Promotions: The three Santa Clara seniors, Marie Bertholdt, Lori Parkinson, and Beth Carlson, will be honored in a pregame ceremony. There will also be postgame autographs.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
