Women's Basketball Plays Final Exhibition Monday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball plays its second and final exhibition game Monday at 7 p.m. in Leavey against San Francisco State.

The Broncos beat UC Santa Cruz 71-32 on Wednesday night in their first action of the new season.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 10-7 all-time against San Francisco State with the first meeting coming during the 1967-68 season. The last meeting came in 2014 and was an 87-41 Bronco victory in Leavey.

THE BRONCOS
Last season Santa Clara scored 62.0 points per game while shooting 38.7 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Broncos grabbed 36.9 rebounds per game and had a plus-1.2 rebound differential while forcing 17.7 turnovers per game.

Santa Clara returns its top scorer from a year ago in Emily Wolph and its top rebounder in Morgan McGwire. Wolph led the WCC with 75 3-pointers made and scored 12.8 ppg while adding 3.7 assists per game. McGwire grabbed 7.7 rpg and scored 10.3 ppg as well. She shot 45.4 percent from the field.

Also returning is Taylor Berry who was one of two Broncos to start all 30 games last year. She scored 7.6 ppg and added 4.6 rpg whiling finishing second on the team with 43 steals. Kyla Martin also saw action in every game in 2016-17 as a key reserve.

THE GATORS
San Francisco State finished last season 4-23 while being outscored by 8.8 ppg. The Gators shot 35.6 percent from the field and 28.7 percent from beyond the arc. They had a minus-4.8 rebound margin and committed 16.1 tpg.

Imani Smith finished last season fourth on the team in scoring with 6.5 ppg but is the top returning scorer. Smith led the team with 37 steals and added 2.9 rpg. Erika Nilsen's 3.1 rpg is tops among returners. She added 2.1 ppg as well.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
