Women's Basketball Hosts UC Santa Barbara Tuesday Night

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball remains at home to take on UC Santa Barbara Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the second game of the season.

The Broncos dropped their season-opener 73-69 to Cal State Fullerton on Saturday night.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 5-5 all-time against UC Santa Barbara with the first meeting coming in the 1980-81 season. Last the Broncos went on the road and beat the Gauchos 69-58. In 2014, UC Santa Barbara made its last visit to Leavey with Santa Clara winning 47-33.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (0-1) shot 46.2-percent from the field and 45.5-percent from deep in the season opener. The Broncos were outrebounded 42-28 but collected 16 steals and forced 19 turnovers.

Emily Wolph led the Broncos on offense in the season-opener with 27 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field and 5-for-7 from beyond the arc. Taylor Berry scored 14 and had four rebounds to go with three steals. Morgan McGwire scored 11 with eight rebounds and six steals and Kyla Martin also scored 11 with five steals.

THE GAUCHOS
UC Santa Barbara (1-0) won its opener at home 96-93 over Northern Arizona on Friday. The Gauchos shot 48.5-percent from the field and were 14-for-30 from behind the 3-point line. They were outrebounded 43-38.

Sarah Bates led the team with 25 points and was 12-for-16 from the charity stripe while knocking down three 3-pointers. She added five rebounds and five assists as well. Drew Edelman scored 24 on 11-for-17 shooting and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Sarah Porter had seven assists and scored 13 points.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
