Women's Basketball Returns to Leavey for San Jose State

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After two games on the road, Santa Clara women's basketball begins a three-game homestand with San Jose State Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Broncos picked up their first road win of the year on Saturday when they topped Illinois-Chicago 45-36.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 28-24 all-time against San Jose State with the first meeting coming in 1963-64. Last year the Broncos fell in San Jose 75-64.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (2-3) is scoring 54.4 points per game on 36.5-percent shooting from the field and 26.9 percent from beyond the arc. The Broncos are forcing 18.0 turnovers per game and picking up 10.0 steals per game to go with 3.6 blocks per game.

Kyla Martin leads the team with 11.0 ppg and 4.8 assists per game. She is adding 2.0 spg and 1.4 rpg as well. Morgan McGwire brings down a team-best 6.8 rpg and is second in scoring with 9.0 ppg. She leads the team with 2.6 spg and 1.6 bpg. Taylor Berry is scoring 7.8 ppg with 5.6 rpg and Dru Toleafoa scores 7.2 ppg with 3.4 rpg.

THE SPARTANS
San Jose State (1-4) has lost three in a row after beating CSU Bakersfield in its second game of the season. The Spartans are scoring 76.8 ppg on 37.4-percent shooting from the floor and 36.1-percent shooting from downtown.

Taylor Turney leads the team with 15.6 ppg on 54.0-percent shooting from the floor and has a team-best 4.6 apg. Myzhanique Ladd scores 10.6 ppg to go with a team-high 7.6 rpg. Analys Benally has knocked down a team-high 15 3-pointers while scoring 8.8 ppg.
