Women's Basketball To Face BYU Thursday Night at Home

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball returns home to face BYU Thursday at 7 p.m. in Leavey Center.

Last week, the Broncos fell on the road to Pacific and San Francisco.

SERIES HISTORY

Santa Clara is 2-15 all-time against BYU with the first meeting coming 1998-99. Earlier this year the Cougars topped the Broncos in Provo. Last year, Santa Clara topped BYU in Leavey Center.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (7-16, 3-9 WCC) is allowing a conference-low 57.7 points per game this year while forcing 15.9 turnovers per game and picking up 8.8 steals per game. The Broncos have allowed over 70 points just four times this season.

Morgan McGwire leads Santa Clara with 10.3 ppg and 2.1 steals per game. She is second in the WCC with 1.8 blocks per game and third with 8.9 rebounds per game. Ashlyn Herlihy is second in scoring with 9.4 ppg and is tied for the team-lead in 3-pointers made. Kyla Martin averages a team-best 4.7 assists per game and adds 8.4 ppg with Taylor Berry adding 8.0 ppg and 6.2 rpg.

THE COUGARS
BYU (13-10, 8-4 WCC) is scoring 68.0 ppg on 42.3-percent shooting from the field and 32.6-percent from beyond the arc. The Cougars allow 65.7 ppg for a plus-2.4 scoring margin.

Cassie Devashrayee leads the conference with 20.3 ppg and leads BYU with 4.3 apg. Brenna Chase scores 13.3 ppg and has knocked down a league leading 51 3-pointers. Malia Nawahine scores 10.0 ppg with Sara Hamson pulling down a team-high 6.9 rpg and scoring 5.9 ppg.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
