SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball continues its season-opening homestand against Nevada Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Broncos opened the season Tuesday night with a commanding 98-38 win over Sonoma State.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 12-12 all-time against Nevada with the first meeting coming in 1970-71. Last year the Wolfpack beat the Broncos 52-41 in Reno.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (1-0) showed impressive balance in the season-opener. Eleven of the 12 players to see minutes scored with five in double-figures and each playing between 11 and 24 minutes.

Tia Hay led the offense with 21 points on 10-for-14 shooting while adding five rebounds and four steals. Joeseta Fatuesi scored 11 with Lauren Yearwood, Ashlyn Herlihy, and Emily Wolph all scoring 10 apiece. Herlihy added a team-high six rebounds and six assists as well while Wolph hit a team-best two 3-pointers.

Freshmen Lindsey VanAllen (9) and Lexie Pritchard (8) also contributed with Pritchard adding four steals and four assists and VanAllen filling up the scoresheet with four rebounds, three steals, and a pair of assists.

Defensively, Santa Clara held Sonoma State to just 20-percent shooting from the field and 1-for-19 from beyond the arc. The Seawolves went 15 minutes in the second half without a field goal and scored a total of 15 points in the second half, including just four in the third quarter.

THE WOLFPACK
Nevada (0-1) dropped their season-opener 74-52 at home against Utah Wednesday night. The Wolfpack shot 38-percent form the floor while being outrebounded 49-31 and committing 22 turnovers.

Jade Redmon led the team with 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field. Terae Briggs scored 10 and was one of four players with a team-high four rebounds. Da'Ja Hamilton scored nine with four rebounds and Mikayla Christian had a team-high four assists.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
