FRESNO, Calif. – A trio of double-digit scorers led Fresno State to an 80-53 win over Santa Clara women's basketball Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs (5-3) used hot shooting from beyond the arc to lead the offensive charge as they were 14-for-22 from downtown and shot 49.3-percent form the field while picking up 27 assists on 33 made baskets.
"The 3-point shooting was a huge difference tonight," Santa Clara head coach Bill Carr said. " A lot of them were contested but they still made them. On the other side, we didn't make ours. We have to get back into the gym and get better."
Candice White led the team with 19 points on 8-for-15 shooting while Aly Gamez scored 15 and hit all three of her 3-pointer attempts. Jordanna Porter's 14 on 4-for-5 from 3-point land rounded out the double-digit scorers. Bree Delaney had a game-high 10 assists and Maddi Utti grabbed 10 boards.
Things started to get away from the Broncos (5-4) in the final minute of the first quarter when Fresno State began a 10-0 run that stretched into the second and turned a one-point deficit into a 24-13 lead.
A 3-pointer from Tia Hay at 5:56 in the second quarter got the Bulldogs' lead to single digits for the last time before seven in a row for Fresno State made it 34-18 with 3:57 to go in the opening half.
The game was put away with a 12-0 run over 2:15 in the third that saw Fresno State take a 54-29 lead.
Ashlyn Herlihy finished with a team-high 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field while adding seven rebounds. Hay scored 15 and added five assists and four rebounds with Lexie Pritchard chipping in 10 points, tying a career-high for the freshman. Lauren Yearwood had a game-high 11 rebounds and added three blocks and three steals.

- Santa Clara is now 15-24 all-time against Fresno State.
- The Broncos used the same starting lineup (Wolph, Hay, Jimenez, Herlihy, Yearwood) for the ninth consecutive game.
- Santa Clara held an 11-4 edge in second chance points.
- The Broncos shot 36.1-percent as a team and were 4-for-24 from beyond the arc.
