SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball travels to take on No. 18 Gonzaga at the Kennel Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Broncos opened the week with a 72-66 win at Portland on Thursday night.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 29-38 all-time against Gonzaga with the first meeting coming in 1987-88. Last year the Zags won both meetings.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (10-9, 3-5 WCC) ranks third in the West Coast Conference in defense, allowing 63.9 points per game while forcing 15.9 turnovers per game and picking up 8.3 steals per game. The Broncos also lead the conference with 4.3 blocks per game.

Tia Hay is seventh in the league with 15.6 ppg and also leads Santa Clara with 3.4 assists per game, 2.2 steals per game, and 31 3-pointers made. Ashlyn Herlihy is second in both scoring (10.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.9 pg) and leads in minutes per game (32.8). Lauren Yearwood is 15th in the country with 2.5 bpg and leads the Broncos with 7.1 rpg, sixth in the WCC.

THE BULLDOGS
Gonzaga (18-2, 7-1 WCC) is second in the WCC scoring 74.4 ppg and tops in allowing 58.0 ppg. The Bulldogs are a perfect 10-0 at home with their only losses coming vs. Notre Dame at BYU.

Zykera Rice leads the team with 14.0 ppg and 6.2 rpg. Chandler Smith is scoring 10.1 ppg with 5.1 rpg and adds 2.1 apg as well. Katie Campbell leads the Zaags in 3-pointers made with 44 and is scoring 9.3 ppg with Jill Townsend adding 9.1 ppg and 5.0 rpg. Laura Stockton's 4.3 apg are tops on the team and she is scoring 8.5 ppg.
