Women's Basketball Continues Homestand Against LMU Thursday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – A three-game homestand continues for Santa Clara women's basketball Thursday at 7 p.m. against Loyola Marymount.

The Broncos fell to San Francisco 57-49 on Saturday in their lone action of the week.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 48-26 all-time against LMU with the first meeting coming in 1984-85. The Broncos won a triple overtime contest 83-75 in Los Angeles in the first meeting of the season.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (10-11 3-7 WCC) holds steady with the third-rated defense in the WCC, allowing 64.2 points per game while forcing 15.5 turnovers per game and collecting 8.2 steals per game. The Broncos score 60.3 ppg on 39.7-percent shooting from the field.

Tia Hay is eighth in the conference with 15.4 ppg and leads Santa Clara with 3.5 assists per game, 2.1 spg, and 32 3-pointers made. Ashlyn Herlihy leads the team in rebounding with 7.0 pg and is second in scoring at 10.6 ppg. Lauren Yearwood is 14th in the country with 2.6 blocks per game while grabbing 6.9 rpg and scoring 5.9 ppg.

THE LIONS
LMU (13-10, 6-5 WCC) has won two in a row and three of four. The Lions are scoring 65.1 ppg on 38.9 -percent shooting from the floor and 30.1-percent from beyond the arc while allowing 65.9 ppg.

Chelsey Gipson's 16.1 ppg is fifth in the WCC with her 39 3-pointers ranking second and she adds 2.9 apg. Gabby Green scores 14.0 ppg with 6.5 rpg and Jasmine Jones scores 11.7 ppg with 6.3 rpg. Bree Alford leads the leaguw tih 10.0 rpg while scoring 8.4 ppg and Andee Velasco's 4.5 apg are second in the conference.
