Final Homestand Begins Thursday for Women's Basketball with No. 15 Gonzaga

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The final homestand of the season begins as Santa Clara women's basketball takes on No. 15 Gonzaga Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Broncos topped Pacific Saturday 88-83 on the road after falling at Saint Mary's on Thursday.

Santa Clara closes out the home schedule on Saturday against Portland.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 29-39 all-time against Gonzaga with the first meeting coming in 1987-88. The Bulldogs beat the Broncos in Spokane earlier this season.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (11-14, 4-10 WCC) is allowing 66.3 points per game while scoring 62.2 on 40.3-percent shooting from the field. The Broncos force 15.0 turnovers per game while picking up 8.2 steals per game.

Tia Hay's 15.3 ppg are seventh in the WCC and her 2.1 steals per game are tied for fourth. She also leads Santa Clara with 3.8 assists per game and 35 3-pointers made. Ashlyn Herlihy is sixth in the conference with 7.5 rebounds per game and second on the team with 11.4 ppg. Lauren Yearwood is 14th in the country with 2.6 blocks per game while adding 6.6 rpg and 6.0 ppg.

THE BULLDOGS
Gonzaga (23-3, 12-2 WCC) has the best defense in the WCC, allowing 57.5 ppg. The Zags scored 74.0 ppg on 45.8-percent shooting from the floor and 36.6-percent from beyond the arc.

Zykera Rice is the only player in double-figures at 14.1 ppg and leads the team with 6.0 rpg but five others (Jill Townsend (9.3), Chandler Smith (9.2), Jenn Wirth (8.7), Lauren Stockton (8.6), Katie Campbell (8.5)) are averaging at least 8.5 ppg. Stockton is fourth in the league with 4.3 apg and leads the team with 1.8 spg.
