Three Women's Basketball Players Nab All-WCC Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Three Santa Clara women's basketball players were honored on the All-West Coast Conference teams as announced Tuesday by the league office. Junior guard Tia Hay was named to the second team with redshirt sophomore Ashlyn Herlihy being named honorable mention and Lindsey VanAllen making the all-freshman squad.

Hay leads the Broncos and is seventh in the conference with 15.3 points per game. She is also fifth in the league with 4.3 assists per game and 2.0 steals per game with leading the team with 39 3-pointers made. The junior has nine games of 20-plus points and one 30-point performance to her name.

Herlihy is seventh in the WCC with 7.3 rebounds per game and she is second on Santa Clara with 11.1 ppg. She has scored at least 20 points four times and has five double-doubles on the season. She is the only Bronco to start all 29 games.

VanAllen is scoring 7.5 ppg this season and 9.2 pg in conference action. She leads the Broncos with an 81.6-percent mark from the free throw line. She set a career-high with 23 points in an overtime win at San Francisco and has also scored 22 in a game this year.

Santa Clara opens the WCC Tournament Thursday at 2 p.m. against San Diego.
