SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball takes on Pacific in the second round of the West Coast Conference Tournament Friday at 2 p.m.
The Broncos topped San Diego 63-59 Thursday in the opening round of the tournament.
SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 29-22 all-time against Pacific with the first meeting coming in 1974-75. The two teams split the season series, each winning on the others home court.
WCC HALL OF HONOR
Former Broncos player and head coach Caren (Choppelas) Horstmeyer will be the Santa Clara inductee in the WCC Hall of Honor. It is the 11th annual Hall of Honor class and will be recognized Saturday, March 9 during the 2019 WCC Hall of Honor Brunch at the Mardi Gras ballroom in the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas.
Horstmeyer set the record for most career points at Santa Clara and currently sits at third with 1,496.
She then became the head coach for 12 seasons and posted a 221-124 (.641) record, bringing home six regular season WCC titles and two WCC Tournament championships while making the four NCAA Tournaments and winning the 1991 WNIT.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (14-16, 6-12 WCC) is allowing 66.5 points per game while forcing 14.9 turnovers per game and collecting 8.2 steals per game. The Broncos are shooting 40.9-percent from the field an scoring 64.2 points per game.
Tia Hay leads the team with 15.6 ppg, 4.2 assists per game, and 2.0 steals per game. She is also tied for the Santa Clara lead with 40 3-pointers made. Ashlyn Herlihy's 7.4 rebounds per game are tops on the team and she is second with 10.9 ppg. Lauren Yearwood entered the week 17th in the country and has 2.6 blocks per game while adding 6.3 ppg and 6.6 rpg. Emily Wolph is tied with Hay with 40 3-pointers and adds 6.9 ppg.
THE TIGERS
Pacific (17-11, 10-8 WCC) is the sixth seed. The Tigers are scoring 72.6 ppg on 40.8-percent shooting from the field and 31.2-percent from beyond the arc. They allow 70.1 ppg on defense.
Valerie Higgins leads the team with 16.9 ppg, 8.9 rpg, and 3.1 spg while chipping in 3.5 apg. Brooklyn McDavid is scoring 14.8 ppg to go with 6.3 rpg and Ameela Li adds 13.7 ppg and leads the team with 4.4 apg and 44 3-pointers made.
