SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball heads on the road for the first time this season to play at Arizona Friday at 5:30 p.m. Pacific.

The Broncos opened the year with a 109-51 win over UC Santa Cruz at home on Tuesday.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 1-2 all-time against Arizona with the first meeting coming in 1981-82. The last meeting was a 75-63 Wildcats win in Tucson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (1-0) broke triple digits for the seventh time in program history and third year in a row in the season opening win. The Broncos shot 60.3-percent from the field while holding a 46-35 edge on the glass.

Lindsey VanAllen led the way with 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting and 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Merle Wiehl added 18 and was 9-for-13 from the field with Erica Meyer scoring a career-high 15. Addi Walters (14), Lauren Yearwood (13), and Tamia Braggs (11) also were in double-figures.

THE WILDCATS
Arizona (1-0) topped North Dakota State 74-42 in its season opener. The Wildcats shot 43.8-percent from the floor and were 8-for-23 from downtown. They picked up 15 steals and forced 27 turnovers.

Cate Reese led the way with 22 points on 10-for-20 shooting and grabbed six rebounds. Aari McDonald added 13 points and five assists with Sam Thomas scoring 11. Dominique McBryde had a team high seven rebounds and scored seven points.
