TUCSON, Ariz. — Santa Clara beach volleyball finished up its spring break slate with a 4-1 defeat against New Mexico Saturday as part of the Wildcat Spring Challenge at the Arizona Sand Volleyball Courts. The Broncos will head to Moraga, California to take on West Coast Conference foe Saint Mary's Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Hailey Lindberg/Taylor Laugero swept New Mexico's Jackie Baro/Carly Beddingfield 21-17, 21-16 at the No. 3 spot. Tatiana San Juan/Michelle Gajdka also picked up a set for the Broncos (0-8). The No. 4 pairing took the first frame against Eastyn Baleto/Victoria Spragg 21-11 before the New Mexico duo won a pair of sets decided by five points.
The Lobos (8-9) swept at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5.

Saint Mary's (13-4, 6-0 WCC) has won seven of its last eight matches. The Gaels swept San Francisco on Saturday and had a Sunday doubleheader that featured a sweep loss against No. 1 USC and a 3-2 victory over San José State. Santa Clara fell to Saint Mary's 4-1 in each team's first match of the season March 4 at Stanford.
The Broncos and Gaels rematch at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
