MONTEREY, Calif. — Santa Clara beach volleyball dropped both matches of a Sunday doubleheader at the Monterey College Invitational. The Broncos (1-7) fell in 5-0 decisions to San José State and No. 10 Arizona.
Michelle Gajdka/Erin Reineking (No. 4) took both Laura Parts/Kaitlynn Zdorik of the Spartans (6-9) and Stephany Purdue/Hailey Devlin of the Wildcats (9-3) to three sets. They battled in a close 15-13 this set against San José State and jumped out to the lead against Arizona by winning the first set 21-17.
Taylor Odom/Tessie Powers (No. 3) also won their opening set against Makenna Martin/Mia Mason of the Wildcats. San José State won in straight sets at four positions and nationally-ranked Arizona took three duals in two sets.
