SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara beach volleyball is set for a historic day on Saturday. The Broncos will host the first matches on the Mission campus as part of the Santa Clara University Beach Volleyball Tournament.

Santa Clara faces San José State at 9 a.m. and San Francisco in the Dick's Sporting Goods Conference Home Opener at 3 p.m. The Spartans and Dons match up at noon.

"We are thrilled for the direction of this program and eventual dedication of courts," head coach Jon Wallace said. "Playing on campus enhances the student-athlete experience and connectivity with the University as well as the Santa Clara community. The girls are excited to play and we hope that students will come out to support the team and fall in love with the sport."

THE BRONCOS

Santa Clara (1-7, 0-4 WCC) returns to action for the first time since March 18, when the Broncos fell to No. 10 Arizona and San José State, each by scores of 5-0. SCU also faced San Francisco on March 2, and fell 3-2 against the Dons at the Stanford Bay Area Kickoff.

The pairings of Michelle Gajdka/Erin Reineking and Tatiana San Juan/Allison Kantor each have three dual victories on the year.

THE SPARTANS

San José State (7-10) has won two of its last three matches; each victory came against the competition it will face on Saturday. The Spartans swept Santa Clara on March 18 and edged San Francisco 3-2 on March 23. SJSU was swept at Saint Mary's on Thursday afternoon.

Nandyala Gama/Lyndi Scholl have played at No. 1 in 15 of the squad's 17 matches, and are a team-best 10-7 in duals.

THE DONS

San Francisco (2-9, 1-4 WCC) has lost four straight entering the tournament. Their two victories on the season came against Santa Clara (3-2 on March 2) and Sacramento State (4-1 on March 10).
