Meet the Future of Santa Clara Beach Volleyball – Maeve Davitt/Elizabeth Held

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara beach volleyball announces two members of its incoming recruiting class for 2019-20, Maeve Davitt and Elizabeth Held. Davitt hails from South Pasadena, California and joins the Broncos from Mayfield Senior School. Held joins the Broncos from St. Ignatius College Prep and is from San Francisco, California.

MAEVE DAVITT

Davitt is a four-year varsity letter winner in indoor volleyball and soccer for the Cubs. Mayfield volleyball won the CIF-Southern Section Prep League in 2018 and Davitt earned first team all-league recognition for the third straight season. Davitt won three team awards during her high school career: Best Defensive Player (2016, 2018), Coaches' Award (2017) and Athlete of the Year (2016). She was also second-team all-league in soccer in her senior season.

Davitt has played with Forza1 Volleyball in the SCVA Gold Division for the last seven years.

ELIZABETH HELD

Held is an AA rated player on the sand in addition to being a rostered athlete for USAV Beach High Performance A2 (U19 in 2018 and U17 in 2017). She took 9th place of 112 teams at the 2018 AAU Beach Nationals in the Gold Division. Held was crowned the inaugural "Queen of the Beach" in 2017 for winning a round-robin tournament hosted by the Northern California High School Beach Volleyball League, in which competitors play alongside multiple teammates during the event. She is a member of the Santa Cruz Beach Volleyball Club's Elite Team.

Held also played four years of indoor volleyball for the Wildcats, who reached the championship match of the 2018 CIF Central Coast Section tournament. The team went 61-25 with Held on the roster.
