Guajardo and Surtees Among Leaders at Peg Barnard Invitational

Complete Round 1 Results (PDF)

STANFORD, Calif. - Santa Clara upperclassmen Balbina Guajardo and Tamara Surtees are among the top 25 individual players after the opening day of Stanford's Peg Barnard Invitational. Guajardo, a junior transfer from Monterrey, Mexico, shot 5-over par 76 to sit six shots off the lead heading into Sunday's final round.

Surtees is among the leaders as well after posting a 6-over par 77. Fresno State's Christine Uhalde was the only player in the 70-woman field to go under par and she is the overnight leader.

As a team, Santa Clara out-played both Portland State and Hawaii and rest in 10th place. The field is stacked with top 50 programs and may be the most difficult competition the Broncos will face all season. SCU is going without All-West Coast Conference honoree Taylor Camany, who is sitting out this tournament due to illness.
