Bronco Women Play Best Golf of the Year; WCC Championship Next Week

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Santa Clara University women's golf team will enter next week's West Coast Conference Championships playing its best golf of the 2011-12 season.

Outstanding individual performances Wednesday, including a 4-under par back nine from Balbina Guajardo, a second-consecutive 74 from Taylor Camany (pictured) and 16 pars from Kaci McCartan, allowed the Broncos to post a season-low round of 300 in final round play of the 2012 Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz.

"It's incredible, especially considering the really tough playing conditions today," said Santa Clara head coach Krystal Kelly. "I'm really proud of them. They played smart when they needed to and were able to take advantage of their opportunities as well."

Santa Clara opened the 24-team event in 17th place following Monday's opening round 311. However, on Tuesday the Broncos shot a 302 - which was their best round of the year before following that up with a 300 on Wednesday.

The WCC Championships will be held in nearby Hollister, Calif. Monday through Wednesday, April 16-19 at San Juan Oaks Golf Club.
