2012 WCC Golf Championship – Tournament Central
HOLLISTER, Calif. – Santa Clara University had three women's golfers place among the tournament's top 15 at the 2012 WCC Golf Championship at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister. Senior Tamara Surtees finished an outstanding collegiate career 15th, junior newcomer Balbina Guajardo came in 14th and sophomore Taylor Camany posted a team-best 74 on the final day to tie for 12th.
Camany - like Surtees an All-WCC player from a year ago - went 75-75 in the final two rounds at San Juan Oaks, an impressive stretch of 36 holes at just 6-over par. Surtees had posted the day's best round of 1-under 71 on Tuesday, while Guajardo was the only SCU player to shoot in the 70's on each day.
Nationally-ranked Pepperdine rallied from a slow start to finish the tournament as the team champions and will represent the WCC's women's side at the NCAA Tournament. However, it was Gonzaga's Victoria Fallgren winning the individual honors in playoff fashion over Seattle's Caitlin McCleary.

Taylor Camany Honored for Academic Excellence
The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce the 2012 West Coast Conference Women's Golf All-Academic Team. Three members of this year's team appeared on the 2011 women's golf All-Academic Team: Santa Clara's Taylor Camany, Caitlin McCleary and Lori Pearson from Seattle.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
