Santa Clara University Adds Greg Staszko to Women's Golf Coaching Staff

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Greg Staszko, a proven leader who founded and built Deloitte's SAP Solutions into one of the world's leading implementation partners, has joined Krystal Kelly's women's golf coaching staff at Santa Clara University. Staszko will take on the role of assistant coach for the Broncos beginning in the fall of 2012, focusing on program development.

"I am very excited to have Greg join my staff," said Kelly, who has added four highly-accomplished freshmen for the upcoming 2012-13 season. "He is very passionate about the game of golf and believes in the vision of this program. He will also be a great resource for our student-athletes that intend to pursue a professional career in finance after they graduate."

Staszko enjoyed a remarkable 25-year career as the Principal of Deloitte Consulting's SAP Practice, overseeing the growth of its global revenues to over $1.5 billion, while expanding its workforce to nearly 5,000 employees worldwide.

His background in organizational leadership allows Staszko to currently serve on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics of Northern California/Nevada, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County and Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose. Prior to accepting his current position at Santa Clara University, Staszko was the boys and girls head JV golf coach at San Jose's Valley Christian High School from 2010-2012.

Additionally, he is the Alumni Foundation Board Treasurer for his alma mater, Minnesota State University-Moorhead, where he earned an Accounting degree in 1972. Staszko totaled seven letters during his time as a student-athlete at Minnesota State University-Moorhead, four in track and three in football. He qualified for the NAIA National Track and Field Championships as a sophomore (1970) and senior (1972), establishing numerous school sprint records in addition to being named team MVP and serving as team captain.

A long-time active supporter of Dragon athletics, Staszko has been honorary chairman of the Dragon Walk and has garnered the University's Distinguished Alumni Award (1997) and its School of Business Outstanding Alumni Award (2007).  This year he was selected to be a member of the 2012 Dragon Athletic Hall of Fame for track & field and football.

Staszko graduated from Shanley High School in Fargo, N.D. and was inducted into the school's athletic Hall of Fame (football) in 2009.  While at Shanley, the football team was undefeated-ultimately finishing with 69-straight wins, ranked No. 1 in the nation in rushing, second in scoring with 47.3 points per game and third in total offense.

His professional career began at UNISYS as a Branch Office Manager in 1972, was promoted to District Office Manager in 1973 and was tabbed as the UNISYS 'Salesman of the Year' in 1976 and 1977. He then joined KPMG as a Senior Consultant and was later named partner prior to founding Deloitte Consulting's SAP Practice in 1986.

Mr. Staszko and his wife, Gail, are residents of San Jose. They have a daughter Lindsey who graduated from the University of Arizona and works at Deloitte in San Jose. They have a son, David, who graduated from California State University Monterey Bay.  David was a member of the nationally ranked golf team at CSUMB and is working at Silver Creek Valley Country Club to become a PGA professional.
